You can subscribe to get an email from realsimple.com (you know, the awesome magazine?) every day that has a daily thought in the form of a quote. Often I have thought to use them as journaling inspriration, but haven’t taken the time to do so. Somtimes these come in my mailbox just when I need a little infusion of wisdom.
Today’s quote: No road is long with good company.
— Turkish proverb
I’m leaving tomorrow to go to CKU-A in Atlanta, and I’m so excited. I’m sad because my friend Shore will not be going with me. We were going to road trip down there together and have a blast, but she’s been restricted from attending! Doctor’s orders. She’s hurt her back and just won’t be able to sit hunched over for hours working on a book, let alone the car ride and bad hotel bed. So I’m seeing this quote in two ways today…for sure it would have applied if Shore and I were together…the 4 hours to Atlanta would have sped by…literally
But now that I’m going by myself, I’m a little giddy that I get to spend that much time alone with ME! To think, to scream at the other drivers in my way, sing “dancing queen” at the top of my lungs if I want to. (so if you’re CKU bound on I-75 don’t be scared if you see me.)
Off to burn my pics to a disk…must must must get those printed TODAY! Oh, and yeah, my car is in the shop…the back brakes have been making a bit of noise and now that I’m taking my car, Rob insisted I get it checked out before I go…he’s such a good husband
I’m borrowing a wacom tablet from Rob’s boss and this is Evan’s creation with it last night:
He’s such a modern artist. I think I may print this and hang it in his room
I wanted to bring it with me to work today to play, but it’s kinda big so I left it at home. I’m still trying to get used to it! I’d never used one before, so I didn’t realize how different it was going to be.
so the plumber is here again today. The week before last our bathtub stopped up and a very nice plumber came out to fix it. It was a bit funny, though, as he kept bringing in larger pieces of equipment and the noise from down the hall just got louder and louder. Finally, he had to go under the house to replace some pipe and that helped. Now he’s in the garage attempting to snake the washer drain and the same thing is happening. Loud noise for a little while, then fumbling as he goes to get some larger equipment. Then louder noise, etc, etc. All I can think is how much all that noise is going to cost
Isn’t Anja just beautiful? Check out her perfect lips. In person you would swear that she had on lipliner and lipstick…they’re not aware of it yet, but Evan and Ajna are engaged (is that illegal? wait, I live in Tennessee, they could probably go get married now). Supplies are all Gina Cabrera’s Shabby Shack except for the “wonderful” word plate…that’s Jen Wilson’s new Wordy Chips.
So it’s been a long time since I posted anything of substance to my piece of the internet (or if you pay attention to Senator Ted Stevens of the Senate Commerce committee, my piece of the internet TUBE). Anyway, there’s actually a lot going on in my life for it to seem as if nothing is going on. If that makes any sense. Which it may not. who cares.
So, getting back to the title of this lovely entry, I’ve got to show you what I did last week….
Yes, this is my second or third ALL DIGITAL scrapbook page. I would not have pegged me as someone who might be remotely interested in digiscrapping, but it’s way cool! I really have enjoyed learning more about PhotoShop (luckily, I’ve got a personal PS guru…thanks Rob!). I don’t seem myself going completely digital, but it’s certainly a fun option for lots of things. Right now, I’m working on an album to give to my MIL as a thank you gift for the trip to Daytona and it rocks becuase I’m just going to print two copies of each layout, and BAM! I have an album too and I won’t feel so bad giving one away
So that leads me to CKU!!!!!!!!!!! I really can’t wait for this one. My buddy Shore and I are trekking to Atlanta in two weeks to go to CKU-Albums for the long weekend. When we get there, we’re hooking up with Adrianne and Ashla (who totally ROCK and are the owners of the fab kit club The Red Lily…they have awesome kits!!!!!!). I’m taking the Ali Edwards track “A week in the life” with Ash and Adrianne. The homework for this class was keeping tabs of what you do for a week and take photos of your every day life. I think it’s going to be a fablous time! I love Ali’s attidute and I think it will be good to have the “it’s OK” rub off on me a little bit. Shore is taking the “Story of Us” track with Kristan Paolacci from Rust Pickle. I think her album will rock too! And that’s the point, you come here with your homework done and you leave with a completed album. Now, I hear that it’s hard to finish your album while you’re there, but hey, if I get mostly done I’ll be happy.
The Ikea comes in at this point, because I’ve never been to one and I’m so excited that there’s one in Atlanta! I’ve been wanting to go ever since they opened and now I finally get to go! Watch out debit card, please don’t melt!
